北京大学肝病研究所所长，“丙型肝炎和肝病免疫治疗”北京市重点实验室主任。担任中华医学会肝病学分会第六届主任委员，建立了中华医学会肝病学分会青年委员会并兼任首任主任委员，担任中华医学会北京分会肝病学分会第四届主任委员，组建北京肝病学分会各个学组。担任亚太肝病学会丙肝工作组专家成员、《中华肝脏病杂志》副总编辑、《中华临床感染病杂志》副主编等。

科研成果
主持完成了10余项国家及省部级科研项目，特别是牵头完成国家十五和十一五重大科技专项-丙型肝炎的自然史和优化治疗研究，建设的肝炎病毒检测平台通过CNAS认证和美国CAP认证。主持制订国家卫计委行业标准《丙型病毒性肝炎筛查及其管理》，是美国《慢性肾脏疾病中丙型肝炎病毒感染的预防、诊断、处理和治疗指南》唯一参与编写的亚洲肝病专家，牵头编写《肝性脑病专家共识》，出版我国首部《慢性乙型肝炎防治指南科普版》，参与编写《亚太地区丙型肝炎专家共识》等。以第一作者或通讯作者在国内外发表论文200余篇，出版专著10余部，并获教育部科技进步二等奖和中华医学科技进步三等奖。
